The London Capital Club building was purpose built for the Gresham Club in 1915 when they moved from their old location in St. Swithins Lane.

The Gresham Club, named after Sir Thomas Gresham, a noted Elizabethan dignitary and founder of the Royal Exchange, was founded in 1843.

By 1991, The Gresham Club's membership had declined and the remaining members decided to dissolve the club. In 1993 the site was acquired by CCA Holdings.

The building was, by then, in need of total renovation and was painstakingly refurbished before reopening in September 1994 as the London Capital Club.
